Window replacement in North TempeWhether a window job needs a City of Tempe permit depends on the scope. Swapping a window into the same opening is a different job from cutting a wall to make an opening wider or adding a new door. Tempe's Building Safety division says minor single-family projects may be eligible for over-the-counter plan review and permitting (480-350-4311), and permit questions go to permitcenter@tempe.gov. We confirm what your project needs before anything is ordered.
Tempe also runs a residential rebate program: after permitted work on an eligible single-family home passes final inspection, you may qualify for a rebate of the building permit fees. Check current terms with the city before you count on it.
Many Tempe neighborhoods have an HOA that reviews exterior changes such as frame color, grid patterns or a new door opening. We give you the product sheet, colors and sizes to submit, and we don't order until you have approval.
